Clark Yost - Too Much Fun in a No Fun Zone

Limeygit

Ho hum. This is a CD by a guitar player for other guitar players, simple as that really. It proudly bills itself as containing "REAL Rock n Roll!!". If your definition of Rock n Roll is familiar licks, trite lyrics and so-so production then maybe, otherwise this is an album best left to those who have just picked up a guitar and dream of one day torturing innocent pub-goers (or worse those silly fools who thought it would be a cool, and romantic, idea to take a trip on a river boat in Savannah), with a combination of their own, and other peoples, 'classic' songs.
Too much fun? For who...I hate to be harsh in reviews, but I have to say I found little of use here, I will give you a sample of the lyrics. "Sweet Vegas lady, play my music in the night. Sweet Vegas lady, it’s you and me till the morning light." Imagine this accompanied by a seeming never ending semi-heavy-metal guitar solo and you begin to get the idea.
There is a market for this music, and if that is you then mosey on over to Mr. Yost’s website and learn how to buy it. Also don’t assume I am against this genre of music without any exceptions, it is just this is not an album that forces any kind of reaction. I don’t sense any huge amount of skill, passion, integrity, style or anything else on this release. Still if it might be your thing, then check it out.
