1. Indie Monkey started way back in 1999. Its mission was simple, to provide reviews and interviews with true independent artists, no matter their genre or geographical location. We wanted to bring attention to the bands no one else ever covered. Bands that were either self-released or put out by tiny micro labels. We wanted to produce intelligent, well written reviews that could help the bands in many ways. We also wanted to provide a service to music fans who did not want to be spoon-fed the music that the mainstream press (financed by the major record labels) had decided was cool. Over time we have added many features, now in mid-2001 we are going all multi-media with our new 'Radio Show'. Each show will contain 15 tracks showcasing bands we have reviewed. We hope to get a new show at least once a month. If you need any more information then just drop us a line.

2. A lot of people do not like Real Media, often for very good reasons. Still for us there really is no other choice considering our needs. We want media files that are (a) small, (b) stream by default, (c) are capable of being streamed by just about any internet connection, (d) are cross platform, (e) are of a type that allow users with a 56k connection or better to be able to listen to the show and continue their surfing and (f) provide reasonable sound quality. With those factors in mind Real Media, or .rm files, are the only option. Each 15 tracks show is smaller in size than 2 MP3s.

3. We use Real Producer (a free version is available from Real Media ) to turn any other media format into a .rm file. We create it to run on a 28.8k or better connection. We use the inbuilt streaming media server our host provides. We code in some basic track information. We sometime drink a beer while we are doing this.

4. The point of the Radio Show is to compliment the rest of the content, not to stand on its own. As such each show features 15 hand picked tracks which showcase a diverse range of the many bands we have featured on Indie Monkey. In simple terms it is supposed to be the show your local radio station isn't playing, but should be. If you want a 24/7 streaming internet show may I suggest Live365. If you want weekly or daily radio shows from Indie Monkey, may I suggest you volunteer to start paying me!

5. Go to the specific page for the show you are listening to. Below the track information is a blue icon of a woman holding a newspaper, this will take you to the Indie Monkey review. The green image of two computers will take you to the official band website. You can also always try 'Search', 'Reviews by Genre' and 'Reviews by Name' if you want.

6. Go to the specific page for the show you are listening to. Below the track information is a red CD, click on it and it will take you to a place that sells the album that features the track you are listening to. If in doubt always check out CD Baby who carry many of the artists we feature.

7. You need the following. A computer. An internet connection of 28.8k or better (we suggest better). Real Player. Speaker and Soundcard. You have all those and it still doesn't work? Drop us a line with all the information and we will get our crack-smoking team of techs on it.

8. Indie Monkey Radio is an extension of Indie Monkey itself. All the bands we feature are those we have already reviewed. If you wish to be reviewed then first understand we have a huge pile of CDs waiting attention and you will have to take your luck with everyone else. Still interested? Cool email us for more information.

9. Possibly. Most of our banner ads are through Burst Media. You can contact them or drop us a line if you want to work directly with us. If you have a product or website that fits directly into our ethos and will be of use to the bands and fans we cater to then we would be open to a short audio ad. Certainly a lot more useful than banner ads and a lot cheaper, again drop us a line.

10. Dude, see a doctor. Make sure you tell him about Indie Monkey, you might get a discount.
