Get your minor label and self-released CDs at CDBABY.com

IndieMonkey is the premiere location on the net for minor label and self-released artists. It is our aim to help bring attention to those bands and artists who deserve it, no matter what the style or where they are located. The site has been designed for easy navigation. The reviews are the main element but we also have opinion pieces, feedback, interviews, cartoons and a radio show. Feel free to peruse to your heart's content. We particularly encourage you to contact us; we are always looking for new writers and there are genuine prizes available for any email that manages to impress our boss, Gordon, the world's most savvy primate.

UPDATES

September 3rd 2007
Hey everyone. From 1999 to 2004 indiemonkey.com existed for a very specific purpose. To provide well written coverage for the little bands out there, the guys releasing albums on their own labels, the people trying to make an impact without being an actual part of the industry. The hope was we could give them a little exposure and also provide them something for their press pack, something that was just a touch better than the other geocities type fan-stuff out there. Did we succeed? That is for other to decide, but God Damn did we try.

Sometime in 2004 real life got in the way and Indie Monkey went on hiatus, which eventually turned into a permanent vacation. There was always an intention to return at some point, but it never worked out, and by this point, in late 2007, it is fair to say the passion isn't there, I still love discovering music as much as anything in life, but championing it is a young man's game (or woman for that matter).

So Indie Monkey stays on, a time capsule of a genuine effort, and a snapshot of the wide world of music that was trying to make itself heard in the early years of this millennium.

Please browse away, there is tons of material here, and bands to discover. Some of the artists have gone the way of Indie Monkey, some still struggle on, and a very small group achieved at least a slice of their dream, and we salute them all.

Should anyone want to know anything about this old attempt to change the world, drop me a line at indiemonkey at exite dot com. Later...
